On August 4, Shenzhen MSU-BIT University welcomed the domestic undergraduate students for the second year in its history, with 130 Chinese students. The Chinese domestic student number reached 243 in total.

In 2018, Shenzhen MSU-BIT University recruits 130 Chinese undergraduates from eight provinces and one city (Guangdong, Heilongjiang, Shaanxi, Shandong, Anhui, Fujian, Hunan, Sichuan and Beijing), with four majors including International Economy and Trade, Russian language, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Materials Science and Engineering, among which 100 science students and 30 art students. The number of applicants reached 2,621, which was 3.1 times higher than that of 2017. Finally, 130 students were admitted. The implementation rate of the plan was 100%, and the enrollment ratio was 20.2:1.

In order to provide good service and environment for the freshmen and parents of Class 2018, the university has set up reception stations for qualification check and registration, payment service stations, "green channel" reception stations, and rest areas for new students' relatives and friends, etc., which greatly facilitated students to go through the enrollment procedures. At 6:30 a.m., the first bus to greet the freshmen left campus for Shenzhen north railway station and Shenzhen airport. The staff in the school was ready by 8 o 'clock to welcome the freshmen. 25 students from Class 2017, who are on summer vacation, came to the school as volunteers, assisting in the reception of freshmen, on-site consultation guidance and registration procedures. Some students just returned from the summer camp in Moscow the day before the orientation day.

The 130 students from Class of 2018 will attend a one-month intensive Russian language training program from August 6.In addition to the "hard" intensive Russian language training, daily learning at Shenzhen MSU-BIT University is not easy either: the school has classes every Saturday, with an average of more than 40 hours per week. In addition to learning Russian, students have to continue learning English. Professional courses are difficult and are taught in full Russian. Students at Shenzhen MSU-BIT University face a hard learning task and high pressure, but they are ready to work hard.

On June 21, 2018, Minister of Education Chen Baosheng pointed out at the "Work Conference on the New Era of National University Undergraduate Education" that "returning to general knowledge means that students should study hard. Students’ primary task is to study. Universities should emphasize hard work in study. The development and success of a university student is not easy, which cannot be achieved by playing games."

Shenzhen MSU-BIT University has inherited the traditions of Moscow State University and Beijing Institute of Technology, strictly carrying out the teaching work and making strict demands on students, and encouraging them to study hard, engaging themselves in participating in the "One Belt And One Road" Initiative, and China-Russian comprehensive strategic cooperation and regional social and economic development with tangible academic achievements and real skills.

The teaching ideal and pattern of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University completely accords with the initiative “increase burden” proposed by Minister Chen, and the university explores the way for the reform and development of China’s higher education since last year.
